The Wayfinder
The Wayfinder
Watercolor and Ink painting
8 × 6 inches
Arches 300 lb watercolor paper, 2025
This watercolor piece depicts a woman on horseback crossing a river, with a stone cairn—stacked rocks—overlaid on the image.
A Wayfinder serves as a guide for navigating physical spaces. I first encountered the concept of a cairn while living in Colorado, where they are used as trail markers during hikes. In other cultures, they also serve as grave markers.
The significance of physical space is often overlooked. As women, we are frequently encouraged to shrink ourselves and face shame for occupying space. Much of our society revolves around the idea of being smaller.
The Wayfinder is about embracing your power, taking bold steps, and recognizing the intuitive markers that guide you on your journey.
Never apologize for claiming your space.
I’m currently exploring the concept of embodying symbols and the transformation they can evoke. As I grow older, I've developed a deeper appreciation for the richness of experiences. I find value in the lessons they offer and how intuition and intention shape those journeys.
This is the Original Painting. It comes wrapped, sealed and signed. Gift wrapped upon request.
